From "Test Room" to "R&D Center": A New Hub to Accelerate Product Development is Now Online! [ASKA MARKET NEWS, March 2026, No. 373

The Meaning and Vision Behind the "R&D Center"

At Aska Company, we have revamped the space previously known as our "Test Room" and restructured it as our new "R&D Center."
R&D stands for "Research and Development":

  • Research:Investigating new technologies and conducting fundamental verification.
  • Development:Transforming ideas into products through design, prototyping, and technical application.

Rapid Molds for Development

Five Months Since Launch: Behind the Scenes of a High-Speed Renewal

This renewal was driven by the "R&D Center Environment Development Project," aimed at boosting productivity and strengthening our development mold-making capabilities.
Launched in June 2025, the project achieved a major environmental overhaul in a remarkably short span of just five months.
This rapid progress was fueled by our intense commitment to pushing development speed to its absolute limit.
Previously, the "prototyping site" and the "mold/equipment processing area" were in separate locations, leading to time lags in information exchange.
To prioritize operational efficiency, we decided to consolidate these functions within the same premises. By unifying our operations into a single hub, we have established a system for close, seamless communication and high-speed development.

Maximizing Limited Space Through "Ingenuity"

The greatest challenge in consolidating equipment from two locations into one was the physical footprint.
To fit everything into a limited area—less than half the size of the original sites—the project members engaged in countless rounds of intensive discussion.
By optimizing the layout of machinery, shelving, and fixtures down to the last millimeter, we successfully created a highly efficient workspace with a smoother, more comfortable workflow than ever before.
For the relocation, we carefully selected a "top-tier fleet of 10 machines," including machining centers and electrical discharge machines (EDM).
In the machining center installation area, we performed large-scale foundation work—excavating nearly one meter of ground and pouring fresh concrete—to establish a rock-solid environment that guarantees high-precision processing.

A Satellite Workspace Bridging Operations and Development

In tandem with this renewal, our development structure has been significantly strengthened.
The administrative area, which originally housed two staff members, has welcomed two new mold development specialists, evolving the team into a more robust and comprehensive unit.
To accommodate this growth and secure ample work areas, we have newly installed a mezzanine-level satellite workspace.
This space has been designed with future expansion in mind, currently providing workspace for up to six people.
A key feature of this mezzanine is the large viewing window overlooking the prototyping area.
By allowing the team to instantly monitor operational status and catch even subtle changes, this layout accelerates specification verification and the early detection of potential issues.
Furthermore, the expansive view through the window reduces any sense of confinement, creating an open and focused environment where team members can work with peace of mind.

Elevating Our Development Capabilities to the Next Stage

By integrating the processes of design, prototyping, processing, and molding more closely than ever before, we have established a system capable of driving a faster, high-precision development cycle.
One of the core strengths of ASKA’s development capability lies in our organizational structure.
Within the Sales Division, we have built a seamless organization where sales, design, mold/equipment development, and product evaluation are all directly connected to the manufacturing floor.
Members of this organization work together in an open-plan workspace to enhance information-sharing capabilities.
We focus not only on digital text communication but also on refining our verbal communication skills to maximize the collective strength of our team.
The new R&D Center is more than just a workspace; it is a "hub of innovation" that fosters communication and creative thinking throughout the entire product development journey.
With our renewed facility, we will continue to listen closely to the market and pursue manufacturing that transcends the expectations of the future.
